The file extension MID is a file extension that is associated with MIDI files. The Musical Instrument Digital Interface or MIDI is a protocol that is standard for musical information interchange between synthesizers, computers and musical instruments from MIDI Manufacturers Association. Codes for musical events are defined by this standard which comprises of the start note, its length, pitch, volume and the musical attributes like vibrato. Codes are defined for diverse pedal adjustments, dial and buttons used on synthesizers. MIDI is a system that contains commands that are music related for synthesizers and also other device that may be MIDI compliant.
